Fly Fishing Camp When you think of camp for your pre-teen or teenager; between the ages of 10-15; you think of sports camp, or Boy/Girl Scout Camp, swim camp and other athletic sports or troop activities. Have you ever thought about Fly-Fishing? Hidden in the Shadows near Mount Shasta is a place called Antelope Creek Lodge.
An adventure awaits them like no other; camping in the beautiful Northern California Mountains, near a beautiful river, in the great outdoors. Now don’t let those words scare them away. Being in the great outdoors is amazing as any video game they have played. If they love to fish and have wanted to learn how to fly fish, than this is the camp. All they need are bright smiles, the eagerness to learn and a sleeping bag. The camp provides everything else. They will learn the basics of how to fly fish, and best of all make new friends with the same common goal, to catch the biggest fish!
For the ones that have been to Fly Fishing camp before, there is an advanced class which teaches them how to tie the perfect knots flies. To make the perfect fly is an artwork. It takes time and practice. And each class is taught by an instructor that loves to fish and wants to share his/her passion with others. And if you are thinking, wow that looks like a lot of fun. They have family camp as well. The same wonderful fun time, but spent with the whole family; an exciting outing that the family as a whole can take part in, and experience the freedom of fly fishing.
Have you ever driven past a river and seen a fly fisherman? Or been fishing at a lake and seen man/woman waiting in the water and just seem to be in their own world, making it look very easy as the line whips back and forth making the perfect cast look effortless? They are in their own world, away from the stress of work, and life. For those moments or hours out fly fishing the world is at peace. That is something every one wants to feel. Peace from all the headaches in the crazy world. Even children carry stress. And to be able to release that in a non violent anger way, that’s every parents want for their child(ren). Not all children or adults alike are sports savvy. Being able to run, ride the back of the wind on a bike, or play that one sport that makes them feel like they are at the top of the world.
If you can hold a fishing rod, extend your arm out,
you can fly fish. There is no such word as can’t in the fly fishing
world. Even physically challenged individuals fly fish. That is a something
some people do not believe, but it is true, every one can fly fish.
And Fish Camp is the place to go to learn, in a wonderful camping setting
with the smell of breakfast in the air in the morning and bon fires
at night hearing those wonderful fish stories. Some true, some just
plain old fashion fish stories.
